Lucy T Smith
botanical artist

On Sunday 28th April, the Herbarium at Kew will be open to Friends of Kew for an exclusive look behind the scenes at the iconic building, and the fascinating scientific work that takes place within it.

I will be displaying my own work, and demonstrating how botanical artists produce illustrations for the botanists at Kew – illustrating new species in pen and ink, and painting living and dried plants for publication. You can also see a microscope and camera lucida in action if you’d like to have a go at drawing for yourself! Previous events of this kind have always drawn a great and enthusiastic crowd. This event is only open to Friends of Kew, and you must book online or by phone to secure a place. If you are not already a Friend, perhaps this is the time to join and take advantage of this great opportunity.
