The Ship
In 2001, Lucy had the opportunity to experience life as an 18th Century botanical artist, when she spent six weeks on the replica of the Endeavour. The BBC filmed a documentary recreating part of Cook’s voyage, and Lucy took the part of Sydney Parkinson - the original botanical artist onboard. All of the images shown here were drawn and painted during the voyage, and not touched afterwards. They are a record of what it was possible to achieve while helping to sail “The Ship” for six weeks, from northern Australia to Indonesia.
